Training & certification in CPR/AED & First Aid is considered an essential job function & is required for all those who do their work in an area where they have patient contact. All medically licensed staff (Physicians, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Dentists) & Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) complete CPR & AED training & certification for professional rescuers. All other staff who have direct patient contact complete CPR/AED and First Aid training and certification for lay rescuers. Certification by American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross in CPR/AED & First Aid is accepted in DBHDD hospitals & state-operated community services. CPR/AED or First Aid certifications other than AHA & ARC are not accepted.
